Cheap Hitatchi Deskstar - On receiving my package, it turned out that I got a 160GB Hitachi Deskstar drive for only £30! Hard drive connected perfectly to the ATA connection and is a must have if you want to expand an old computers storage potential.
Disappointing - I bought this on the basis of the other reviews but was disappointed overall. The disk was a maxtor 160GB and the absence of instructions was expected given the generic selling point. However, the disk would not format in its entirety and in the end I had to have a few partitions to focus down on the part of the disk that was faulty. So in the end it works but I lost 30GB of space which could not be formatted. Given the cost of the disk initially, it was somewhat disappointing.
Great value for money HDD and a good make as well. - I got two of these , one for a poorly PC and the other for a network HDD enclosure and they have been fantastic, the drives I received are Hitachi Deskstars, so no problems there then as I have used these very reliable drives many times in the past. Anyone buying these drives has to remember that they are OEM, that means you get no IDE cables, screws or instructions, just a drive in a static bag and very well packed in a foam filled box, also the maker can vary.
Pleased. - Not much to expand upon really, have had this for five months with no problems to report.
Generic but branded! - Well let s face it, there isn t really any such thing as a generic hard disk, so if you buy this item you re going to get a decent named hard drive of some kind, for me they pulled out a HITACHI Deskstar. No cheaper than anywhere else, but no more expensive either, and of course no delivery charge. Recommended.
